Unlock the Waterways

The Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which is the longest canal in the country, runs through the heart of the Chorley borough and once upon a time was the lifeblood of the industrial revolution-carrying supplies to and from the mills. Today it is transformed. Rich in wildlife, the canal has some lovely tow paths to explore and you can even hire a narrow boat and take a trip on the water yourself.

White Bear Marina

Situated in Adlington, just off the A6, White Bear Marina is the largest marina on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Linked to over 2000 miles of inland waterways and just up from the mighty Wigan Flight, White Bear Marina is a popular destination for boaters and offers long term, short stay and residential moorings. The marina boasts a choice of facilities including a superb café so whether it’s fun and excitement, industrial heritage or spectacular scenery you’re looking for, White Bear Marina will provide a gateway to them all.
