Check out Chorley this February half term

It may be cold outside but there’s lots of half-term fun happening in Chorley this February, making entertaining the kids a piece of Chorley cake! Check out what’s on offer across the Chorley area…

Holiday adventures

If your children are all about having a great time and getting active during the school holidays, check out Rock and River in Mawdesley. Their holiday activity programme is a great opportunity for young people to experience challenging, adventurous activities, make new friends and return to school healthier and more confident.

Every day is unique as children try each of the exciting outdoor activities. Leave them with Rock and River’s experienced fully qualified instructors to have the time of their lives.

If you want another adrenalin rush, days out at Go Ape Rivington, are about living life a little more adventurously, having fun with friends and family and getting in touch with your inner Tarzan aaa-awaa-awaa!

With breath-taking scenery, amazing tree-top obstacles and awesome zip-lines (one of which will take you across a bay in the reservoir!), you’re sure to have a great day out that you won’t forget.

For those of you who like your adventures a little bit more creepy then check out the Family Creepy Tours at Hoghton Tower as part of their half term fun.  There’s two tours every day from Sunday 11 to Thursday 15 February.

Get crafty and creative

Make and build memories this February with bird box making at Yarrow Valley Country Park 10am-12pm and 1-3pm on Monday 12 February.  Suitable for ages 8+ meet at the Treeface Café.

Explore the magnificent Hoghton Tower for some exciting and fun-filled days of family crafts from Sunday 11 until Thursday 15 February.  Make masks, crowns, tiaras, and hand-puppets, and afterwards, make your way into the wonderful tea room where you can choose from a delicious array of options for lunch.

It might be half term but there’s still shopping to be done so why not combine shopping and entertaining the kids with a trip to Market Walk shopping centre in Chorley town centre on Thursday 15 February. The Art Venturers are in town and on hand to help your little ones get even more crafty and creative than they already are.

Time for a play day

Surely everyone has time for a play day and the Winter Playday at Chorley town hall on Wednesday 14 February promises lots of fun for the whole family. With plenty of games and fun activities between 11.30am and 3pm plus some useful information about community groups in the area, there’s literally something for everyone.

Explore the great outdoors

If you don’t mind wrapping up this February, take the whole family on an adventure around Rivington. For the more energetic, the hike to the pike and the spectacular views for miles (on a good weather day) are well worth it.

For adventures through parkland and on playgrounds, explore Yarrow Valley Country Park and its magnificent weir and walks or visit Astley Park where you will be king of the castle in the Royalists and Roundheads themed play area, get to meet some fantastic furry friends in Pets Corner and enjoy a lovely warm brew and a delicious piece of cake in Café Ambio.
