Travel back in time
Bring your children to a half term, Tudor fun day at Hoghton Tower. You will be greeted by residents of Hoghton Tower from times gone by and be whisked away on an age appropriate, interactive tour of the state rooms. Learn about curing the Kings evil, perhaps receive a Knighthood, find out about Tudor costume, grooming and cleaning, learn about Tudor potions and charms to fend off disease and illness.
As part of Hoghton Tower’s celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the visit of King James 1st, you’re invited to enjoy a range of creative, hands-on activities while learning about life in Tudor times in a truly stunning historic location.
Time for a playday
Surely everyone has time for a playday and the Winter Playday at Chorley town hall on Wednesday 15 February promises lots of fun for the whole family. With plenty of games and fun activities between 11.30am and 3pm plus some useful information about community groups in the area, there’s literally something for everyone.
A shopping treat for everyone
It might be half term but there’s still shopping to be done so why not combine shopping and entertaining the kids with a trip to Market Walk shopping centre in Chorley town centre on Thursday 16 February. Giant games and crazy golf will take over the mall from 10am – 4pm and it’s free to play.
Explore the great outdoors
If you don’t mind wrapping up this February, take the whole family on an adventure around Rivington and see if you can spot the locations that were used in the recent Hollywood blockbuster, A Monster Calls. For the more energetic, the hike to the pike and the spectacular views for miles (on a good weather day) are well worth it.
For adventures through parkland and on playgrounds explore Yarrow Valley Country Park and its magnificent weir and walks or visit Astley Park where you will be king of the castle in the Royalists and Roundheads themed play area, get to meet some fantastic furry friends in Pets Corner and enjoy a lovely warm brew and a delicious piece of cake in Café Ambio.
With all this waiting for you, make sure you check out Chorley during February half term!
