We are running educational workshops for schools aimed at Key Stage one and two pupils as part of their science and local history curriculum studies which will introduce them to the concept of health and hygiene in the 17th Century in the context of Astley Hall and its kitchen garden.
The workshops will investigate the importance of herbs in medicine and hygiene and look at the roles of medical practitioners such as the Plague Doctor, physicians and barber-surgeons and how they treated both the rich and poor for medical ailments.
