Cricket

If you’re looking for a spectator sport, Chorley is home to The White Coppice Cricket Club who welcome spectators at their picturesque Green which has been featured on television. There’s also Chorley Cricket Club, which is not too far from Chorley town centre. Chorley Cricket Club is in the Northern Premier Cricket League and play at Windsor Park off Sandringham Road. With three senior teams and a thriving junior section, there are plenty of opportunities to watch or even participate in a game of cricket.

Football

For all the football fans out there, Chorley is home to The Magpies – Chorley Football Club. They play in the Vanarama National League North and are followed by a loyal army of supporters who gather on the terraces of Victory Park, just outside of Chorley town centre. There’s always a great, friendly atmosphere at Victory Park and families are welcome to cheer on The Magpies as they bid for glory.

Golf

Duxbury Park is an 18-hole golf course that gently winds the scenic grounds of the old Duxbury Hall and is suitable for players of all abilities. Described as one of the best ‘pay and play’ facilities in the region, it is open to the public all year round. And if you want to enjoy a delicious meal after a round or you would simply like to treat that someone special in your life to some fine dining, Duxbury’s restaurant Nineteen is the perfect choice.

Other golf courses in the area include the magnificent scenic 18-hole course at Shaw Hill Golf Resort and Spa Hotel, the historic Chorley Golf Club in Heath Charnock and the relatively new nine hole course at the Oak Royal Hotel, Golf and Country Club in Withnell. Or if you fancy honing your skills or trying something different, Euxton Park Golf Centre has a driving range, putting greens and a Foot Golf Course, which combines football and golf in a fun, friendly yet surprisingly competitive way.

Leisure facilities

Chorley has a fine selection of gyms and personal training studios to keep you fit and up-to-date with the latest classes and training techniques.

The Chorley Council run All Seasons Leisure Centre in the town centre is a state-of-the-art facility and perfect if you want a game of squash, a workout or class in the gym or a relaxing swim in the pool. There’s also plenty of family facilities and special offers if you want to take the little ones along too.

Alternatively, the picturesque village of Brinscall, is home to the 105-year-old Brinscall Swimming Pool, which also offers fantastic family facilities and has a small play area and Brinscall Lodge close by.
