Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year in Chorley with so much to check out that you’ll never want the celebrations and Christmas cheer to end. There’s everything from festive market stalls to traditional lights switch on events to street entertainment, lots of independent shops for unique Christmas presents, cheeky elves, Christmas crafts and not forgetting opportunities to meet the main man – Father Christmas!
Chorley's Real Ice Rink
Get your skates on this Christmas and glide, pirouette and whirl across Chorley’s Real Ice Rink when it returns to the town on 10 December 2021 – 4 January 2022 (except Christmas Day) at Cleveland St (across from the Town Hall).
The Real Ice Rink provides a fantastic opportunity to get together with family and friends and experience the thrill of skating on real ice. There will be some fantastic themed skating days and school skating slots, and there will also be the Cub Club skate sessions children 3 – 7 years old.
Not only can you take a glide on the ice, there will be children’s rides and Betty’s Tipis, with a family friendly atmosphere will be serving sharing foods and festive drinks.
There’s no need to pre-book, just turn up, get your skates on and away you go, unless you are part of a school/community group or are using Tempo Time Credits (see information below about booking these)
£6 per skater
Family ticket is £20 (2 adults and 2 children)
Cub Club (for young children aged 3-7 years old)
£3 per child and £3 for an accompanying adult (maximum of two adults per family at the discounted price of £3 per ticket, any additional skaters to this will be required to the pay full price of £6 per ticket).
Ice skate sizes start at size 8 children.
Open every day (except Christmas Day) from 10 December – 4 January 2022.
Ice skates will be provided for skaters attending the ice rink and these will range from size 8 children’s size to size 13 adults.

School & Community Groups

There is an opportunity for volunteers who have given their time and earned Time Credit tickets to exchange them for skating sessions at the ice rink. If this applies to you, please visit Tempo Time Credits website here.

Not only can you take a glide on the ice and enjoy children’s rides at the Winter Wonderland, Betty’s Tipis, with a family friendly atmosphere will be serving sharing foods and festive drinks such as mulled wine, German sausage hot dogs, pizza’s to share and a selection of children’s meals.

The Big Switch On
On November 21 Chorley’s Christmas celebrations got underway, with some fantastic local acts, entertainers and special guests, including local sports stars Olivia Broome and Holly Bradshaw who did ‘The Big Switch On’, with delightful displays lining the streets.
The Totally Locally Chorley Christmas Market also returned for a third year, taking place on the same day with over 55 independent traders with stalls offering food, drink, giftware, clothing, home décor and more.

Santa's Grotto - SOLD OUT
Santa and his elves will be at Chorley Town Hall every weekend in the run up to Christmas. Santa can’t wait to meet you and hear about the lovely things you have been up to this year. Tell him if you have been naughty or nice and chat about what you are wishing for this Christmas.
Tickets to meet Santa must be booked in advance at £5 per child, this includes a present. There is a maximum of 5 children and 2 adults per slot. Please read the below instructions carefully before booking.
STEP 1 – Select 1 ticket for the date and time you would like to visit Santa, this will permit one child entry to the grotto.
STEP 2 – If more than one child will be attending you must purchase the correct number of ‘Additional Child’ tickets.
The below image shows how to book for 4 children to visit Santa at 10:50am.
DO NOT BOOK AN ADDITIONAL CHILD TICKET UNLESS YOU HAVE A VALID TIME SLOT TICKET.
STEP 3 – Checkout and enter the age and genders of all the children visiting Santa when prompted.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 1 November at 10am.
Jack and the Beanstalk - SOLD OUT
Jack & The Beanstalk makes its way to Chorley for a magical one-off performance for the annual Christmas pantomime at Chorley Town Hall.
Tickets are £4.50 a person plus booking fee.
