What's Your Story, Chorley?

Chorley’s brilliant literary event, What’s your story, Chorley? is back across Chorley Town Centre on Saturday 29 March!

Free events for all the family

11am to 4pm across town centre venues.

A jam-packed day of fun for all the family, the event will see:

  • Workshops covering journaling, creative writing and publishing
  • Spoken word and literary performances
  • Readings and book signings with great authors
  • Immersive talks from the experts
  • Storytimes and sing-alongs as part of its dedicated junior programme
     

Event Programme

Updates to the programme:

  • The adult poetry competition session at Shepherds Hall Ale House stated as 11am in the programme will take place from 1pm
  • The 1pm session at Chorley Theatre Bar, previously by Mike Wilson, will now be by Sid Calderbank, a native speaker of Lancashire Dialect.
  • Both performances of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' at Chorley Town Hall have now sold out, therefore there will be no on-the-door tickets.

Exciting shows

New for 2025, What’s Your Story Chorley? will also feature two theatre performances of the kid’s favourite, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” and an expert masterclass in comic book art from Kev Sutherland.

Participants take away a photocopied comic book containing a strip made by each group member, a title devised by the group, a designed cover, and an individual caricature.

Adult Poetry Competition - ‘My World’

Deadline for entries has now passed. 

Shortlisted poems will be read and a winner announced at Shepherds Hall Ale House from 1pm on the day of 'What's Your Story, Chorley?' 


Create your own book cover - children's activity

School children across the borough have been creating their own book covers, with selected designs being displayed in the town centre on the day of the event until the end of the Easter holidays.
