We welcome film crews to the borough and would be delighted to receive your enquiries about filming in Chorley.

In addition to regularly welcoming the media to many of our well known events, such as Chorley Flower Show,  Chorley attractions have featured in a number of TV shows and films over the years, including Netflix series Run Away, Stay Close, The Bay, Love Your Garden, Moll Flanders, A Monster Calls, Bargain Hunt and more.


 

Our location

We’re easily accessible, with J8 of the M61 and J8 of the M6 being just minutes away from many attractions within the borough.

We’re also close to many other towns and cities in the region – just approx. 30 mins from Manchester, 15/20 mins from Preston, Blackburn or Wigan, to name a few.

Historic assets:

  • Astley Hall, Coach House and Park
    Astley Hall - a breathtaking 16th century Grade I historic house set in Astley park. This surprising building features some of the most outstanding mid-17th century plaster ceilings in the country, rare painted panelling and very fine English oak furniture.

    The Coach House in the grounds of Astley Hall is home to an art gallery, Cafe Ambio (privately operated), the Astley Hall Gift shop and Information Centre. Across the courtyard you’ll find the Farmhouse, including Barrica in the Park (privately operated), plus the scenic Walled Garden.

    Across the beautiful Astley Park, you’ll find acres of stunning parkland, woodland, play areas, bowling green, tennis courts, the cenotaph and more.

    Astley Park can be accessed from the town centre, Hallgate (with car park) and Ackhust Lodge (with car park).
     
  • Chorley Town Hall
    Dating back to 1879, Chorley's Town Hall is a prominant building in the bustling town centre of Chorley.
     
  • Brinscall Baths
    Built in 1911, the charming Brinscall Baths is the oldest swimming baths in Lancashire.
     
  • Rivington Pike / Rivington Pike Tower
    One of the best view-points in the North West. On a clear day, magnificent views can include areas of the Lake District, Cheshire, but even on a cloudy day, you’ll still get good views of Winter Hill, Lower Rivington Reservoir, Lever Park and more. The Grade 2 listed Rivington Pike Tower is a prominent local landmark.

Chorley has a thriving town centre with the renowned Chorley Markets at its heart:

  • Chorley Markets
    Chorley Markets date back to 1498 and is popular with both local visitors and those from further afield, welcoming weekly coach trips.
    The covered market (open 4 days per week) is home to a variety of stalls, plus the 1498 Food and Drink area with communal seating.
    Main market days is Tuesday, as the renowned street market lines the town centre streets in addition to the covered market. Some outdoor stalls can also be found on Saturdays.
     
  • Market Walk
    Outdoor shopping centre and entertainment /leisure complex.
    With over 30 high street retail brands and independent traders, restaurants, plus entertainment venues Reel Cinema (6-screen cinema) and ReBel Social (10 pin bowling, adventure golf, electric darks, karaoke, shuffleboard and more).

The town centre and across the borough is also home to lots of unique independent retailers, places for food and drink and much more.
