Poetry Competition
Do you live in the Lancashire area and love writing poetry? Why not enter our What's Your Story Chorley? poetry competition! To enter simply:
- Write a poem of no more than 30 lines around the theme of ‘My Hero’ – an inspirational person in your life
Requirements:
- Entries should be single spaced.
- Open style: poems can be rhyming or free verse, serious, humorous or thought provoking - your choice!
- This competition is open for those over the age of 18 who live in the Lancashire area. One entry per person
- The poem should not have been published/broadcast e.g. on the radio, online, in a magazine or newspaper
Submitting your entry:
- Email your finished poem to events@chorley.gov.uk or post them to Chorley Town Hall, Market Street, Chorley PR7 1DP with a cover letter that includes your name, age, email, phone number and address
- Shortlisted poems will be read aloud at an open mic event at Astley Hall on Saturday 21 March, as part of What’s Your Story, Chorley?
- If you’re shortlisted, you and a guest will receive a FREE ticket to attend the event. Put the date in your diary and good luck!

Create your own comic book strip
We're calling on local young budding artists to enter our What's Your Story Chorley? Comic Book Strip competition! To enter simply:
- Create your own superhero and tell us their story in a five-frame comic book strip, using the downloadable template:
Requirements:
- This competition is open to school age children who live in the Lancashire area. One entry per person.
Submitting your entry:
- Email your entry to events@chorley.gov.uk or post them to Chorley Town Hall, Market Street, Chorley PR7 1DP with a cover letter that includes your name, age, email, and phone number
- The winning entries will be displayed throughout the town during the Comic Con weekend of What’s Your Story, Chorley? (28 and 29 March 2026)
